This lot was cultivated by smallholder farmers who are members of the Mutheka Farmers Cooperative Society (FCS). FCS oversees seven processing factories, with around 6,000 small-scale coffee growers delivering cherries to these facilities. Kiandu Factory, one of the largest within Mutheka, has nearly 1,900 registered members. Despite Kenya's numerous coffee factories, only a select few operate actively each year. The members of Mutheka FCS typically cultivate about 160 coffee trees, alongside other crops such as maize, beans, and sweet potatoes.
