Edison Elías Muñoz has been growing coffee for the last 30 years in the municipality of San Agustín, located in the southernmost part of Huila. His farm, Finca Pensilvania sits at 1,768 masl and spans a total surface area of seven hectares, all of which are currently producing coffee. Each hectare is planted with 2,200 to 2,400 trees, and Edison cultivates several varieties, including the rare Java, Laurina, and Sudan Rume. Besides coffee, Edison and his family grow plantains. They employ three permanent workers and up to 15 local pickers during the height of the harvest, which has two peaks, one in June and one in October, with fly crops in March and April.
